The Area

The Surrey Hills has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England.

We are surrounded by so many beautiful villages and countryside. We are fortunate to be located in the heart of the Surrey Hills, with so much right on our doorstep and all within a few miles of Ranmore Rise. There is so much you can do here, you just need to allocate enough time to explore it all!

Chocolate Box Villages

You must experience the charming chocolate box villages around here featuring churches over-looking village greens, quaint cottages, historic houses, idyllic pubs and pretty tearooms. One of them, Shere, just a few miles away is so beautiful and quintessentially English, it has featured in a number of blockbuster films such as The Holiday, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Bridget Jones – the Edge of Reason. With its quaint little cottages, medieval streets and waterside setting, this picture-perfect village looks like something from a story book.

The Hills

After you have explored the villages, hit the hills! Just a few miles away from our house is Leith Hill where you can enjoy an awe-inspiring, 360 degree view of the scenic highlights that make Surrey such a fabulous place to visit. The highest point in the South East, offering views that extend to London in the North and the Channel to the South, with far reaching woodland and green open spaces in between. On a clear day it is claimed you can see 14 counties from its summit.

Box Hill, just 2 miles away has been a famous destination for day-trippers from London and more recently as a cycling destination during the Olympics. Newlands Corner just 7 miles away with its commanding views offers a great spot for a picnic.

“Wow! This is an amazing place. The accommodation is stunning and Linda has thought of every detail to make it a superb stay. ( We had stayed at the Hotel du Vin in Birmingham the weekend before and Ranmore Rise is far, far superior. Truly!) Her kindness, care and attention to every detail was so appreciated. We were so grateful for her advice and local knowledge about sights to see and for printing the details of menus of nearby pubs and restaurants for us to select from. The colour schemes and decor here are beautiful – Linda has put so much thought and love into this place, making it an oasis of calm and beauty with all the mod cons. We know that Ranmore Rise is going to take off in popularity, which she so deserves, so we’ve already booked to go again, and will certainly continue to, as long as we can get in! This is a star rated venue with a star rated host. We are so glad we found it.”
